So what's it like to work for Novalash? We ask Heather Hughes, the UK Director at Novalash Eyelash Extensions...

Can you introduce Novalash

Novalash is an American beauty brand that has opened up an International office in the UK in Brighton. We train beauty professionals how to apply lash extensions and sell products to salons and spas.We also have a small consumer cosmetics line that can be retailed in-salon.

What does your role involve Heather?

I am the UK Director. I currently wear many hats but in general, I develop business through salons and spas as well as manage the brand and overall marketing efforts and over see our International training whilst managing staff.

My days vary greatly but generally I start with a cup of coffee whilst reviewing our social media and catching up with industry news. I then discuss sales goals and product features for the week with the team. I also review our advertising and marketing plans for the coming week and month and will work on creating new ads with our graphic designer.

I assist with phone calls for customer orders and provide technical coaching as required. I work closely with our head trainer to co-ordinate training for the UK market.

What do you love most about working at Novalash?

I love having a customer call or email us to say that they have achieved success with Novalash. It’s the best part of my job. We are so passionate about what we do and we want our lash artists to be successful. When our hard work pays off it feels great!

Have you always worked in the beauty industry?

My background is diverse but all the various experience and skills I’ve developed previously have come together to help support my current role at Novalash. Following University in the US, I started my career in advertising as an Account Manager and then progressed into sales and business development. I started working at Novalash 6 years ago in a similar role and have never looked back – I love working in beauty.

Novalash run courses in the UK to qualify as a Certified Novalash Extensionist – can you tell us more about the application process?

We currently offer training throughout the UK and Ireland. Novalash train in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin. For anyone interested in becoming a lash artist - Novalash offer beginner courses. It can be a very rewarding and profitable career and we offer ongoing support following their training. You can choose to be independent and set up your own business or follow a career within salons and spas. What career opportunities does Novalash currently offer in the UK? The brand is expanding in the UK so we are recruiting for entry level as well as experienced inside sales and customer service roles. Applicants should have a passion for beauty and a strong work ethic. We also have opportunities for trainers throughout the UK and Ireland.

What is the application process for job candidates interested in applying to Novalash?

We ask that all interested candidates submit their CV to me via email. From there we will conduct a phone interview and then schedule an in-person interview in Brighton should we feel a candidate may be a good fit for a position.

What personal attributes do you look for at Novalash?

As an American brand we value a high level of customer service in all aspects of our job roles – including customer calls, training and even packing our shipments. Candidates should also be courteous and friendly and have a passion for their work, as well as a strong desire to learn and grow to establish an ongoing career with Novalash. What’s next for Novalash?

As we are still fairly new in the market we will continue to grow and develop in the UK and Irish markets from our base n Brighton. We have doubled the amount of training classes for 2016 and we also have some fabulous new products that are being developed. It’s an exciting time to be part of this global beauty brand!
