How to secure your dream job

Whether you like it or not, interviews are part and parcel of the job application process and it's completely understandable that you might feel nervous.

You're not alone - a recent study found that six in ten women struggle to articulate their thoughts and ideas in job interviews, and 15% reckon their communication skills (including reading / writing) have hindered them.

If you are applying for a therapist based role it's likely you will also undertake a trade test as part of the process - so to stand head and shoulders above the competition its important to really come across well during the interview.

To convince the interviewer you're the best person for the job, you'll need to have self belief because you have around 5 seconds to make a positive impression.

How do you do this?

DRESS THE PART, WALK TALL, SMILE CONFIDENTLY and BE PREPARED!

Research the company, the role, the position and write down and rehearse potential answers to obvious questions. Prepare questions to ask at the end too - not just focusing on the salary but also career development and benefits. This shows that you are organised and can see the bigger picture professionally.

Don't understand a question? Ask the interviewer to explain, and if you really don't know the answer then be honest - reinforcing that you're a quick learner.

Interviewers expect nerves, everyone will have had a similar experience. See your interview as a positive platform to promote how great you are - and you're on the way to securing that dream job!
